Update: LSD ban approved
On September 26, the Federal Council approved the planned LSD ban without comment. This means the ban is definitely coming. However, the exact date it will take effect is still unclear—it could happen at any time now.
What happens next?
The final version of the law is still pending. Due to the current urgency, the LSD ban could be passed by the Bundestag as early as next week. For consumers, this means LSD products could disappear from the market at very short notice.
What should you keep in mind?
If you currently possess products containing LSD, you generally do not need to worry about criminal prosecution—possession is usually not penalized retroactively in such cases. However, retailers will no longer be allowed to offer these substances once the ban takes effect. If you want to stay informed or are looking for alternatives, you should closely follow further developments.
On September 26, 2025, the Federal Council will decide on a possible 1S-LSD ban. If approved, this previously legal variant would also no longer be available.
Why 1S-LSD is on the agenda
1S-LSD became known in recent years because, unlike many other LSD derivatives, it was not yet listed in the NpSG. On May 13, 2025, the expert committee at the BfArM discussed the substance. A draft bill is now available—an indication that a ban is being actively prepared.
Consequences of a 1S-LSD Ban
If the Bundesrat approves, retailers will no longer be allowed to sell 1S-LSD products. Many shops are already responding by selling off remaining stock. For consumers, this means fewer legal options, while possession of products already purchased is generally not punishable.
1S-LSD Compared to Other Derivatives
In recent years, several LSD variants have already been banned in Germany, including 1V-LSD, 1D-LSD, and 1T-LSD. 1S-LSD has so far been a legal alternative. With the 1S-LSD ban, this variant would also be removed from the market.
Next Steps
The decision will be made on September 26. If the 1S-LSD ban is adopted, it usually comes into effect a few weeks later. From that point on, commercial trade would be prohibited, while private possession, as things currently stand, would not be prosecuted.
